FAQ

What is Acupuncture?
Acupuncture is an essential part of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), a comprehensive system of health care with a clinical history of over 4000 years. Acupuncture is used to diagnose and treat illness, prevent disease and improve well-being. It works with the natural vital energy (called Qi) inherent within all living beings to promote the body's ability to heal itself. If the flow of Qi is insufficient, imbalanced or interrupted, illness may occur. The goal of Acupuncture and Chinese Herbal Medicine is to restore health and healing in the body by correcting imbalances of the natural flow of energy throughout the body.

Does it hurt?
No. Most people enjoy treatment and find it very comfortable, restful, and relaxing. Sometimes the needle insertion feels like a quick pinch that rapidly subsides. Some people report a mild tingling, heaviness, warmth, or a dull ache at the acupuncture point, which is a sensation of Qi moving. Generally sessions last about an hour, in which the patient rests or naps. After treatment, you can expect to feel less pain, more energy, and a heightened sense of well-being. Generally speaking, acupuncture is a painless treatment.

How many treatments will I need?
The number of treatments required depends on the severity and duration of the symptoms to be addressed. The Doctor will recommend a treatment plan for you to follow. We provide individualized care so everyone's treatment plan is unique.
